FAQ

Welcome to the FAQ page!

I know what you’re thinking: “Great FAQ – How exciting.” But trust me, this isn’t your typical “dry” list of questions. Here’s everything you want to know (and a few things you didn’t even realize you were curious about) with a little dash of personality and fun.

Where is your office?

I offer both virtual and in-person sessions. For in-person sessions, you can find me in Fresno, California. Therapy from the comfort of your sweatpants or in a cozy office setting? Your choice.

What are your hours?

I offer weekday sessions with various options to fit your busy schedule. No 9-to-5 therapist vibes here – we’ll work together to find a time that works best for you, even if your life feels like a constant juggling act.

How long are the sessions?

Regular sessions are 50 minutes, with the last 5 minutes often spent reflecting on your progress – because your hard work deserves recognition.

For intensive sessions, we can dive deeper with either a single-day option (six hours in one day) or a multi-day experience (up to three days, six hours each day).

Whether you’re looking for steady progress or a transformative deep dive, there’s an option to suit your needs.

How do I set up an appointment?
Easy! Just click the “Send Message” button at the bottom of this page, call me at (559) 825-4614, or email me at info@nicolebarksdale.com, and we’ll get the ball rolling. There is no phone tag or complicated processes – I’m here to make this as simple as possible.
What do you do in sessions?

We talk, we unpack, we explore, and sometimes, we even laugh. Therapy isn’t about me lecturing you; it’s about creating a space where you can finally be you. Whether we’re identifying patterns, processing past pain, or building practical tools for your daily life, each session is tailored to what you need most.

Do you give me homework?
I do! But don’t worry – there are no grades, and you can’t fail. Think of it as tools and exercises to help you process what we discuss and make progress between sessions.
What population do you serve?

I primarily work with high-achieving adults, ages 18 and over, who are navigating stress, burnout, and the pressures of success. Many of my clients are driven individuals working through trauma while striving to maintain balance and fulfillment in their personal and professional lives.

Do you work with men, women, or couples?
I primarily work with women, but I also work with men. If you feel you’re carrying the world’s weight and taking a toll, we’ll make a great team.
What therapy methods do you use?
I use a blend of evidence-based approaches, including EMDR (to process trauma), somatic therapy (to connect with your body), cognitive strategies (to reframe your mindset), and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy for those who qualify. There are no cookie-cutter approaches here – everything is tailored to you.
How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
You’ll know after our first session. If you feel safe, understood, and like we’re on the same team, that’s a good sign we’re a match. Therapy is personal, and finding the right fit is crucial, so trust your gut.
How long will it take for me to feel better?
Healing isn’t linear, and everyone’s journey is different. Many clients feel lighter and more in control after just a few sessions. We’ll work at your pace to create lasting change.
What’s it like to work with you?
It’s like having a hype woman, a tough-love coach, and a trusted guide all rolled into one. I’ll challenge you, cheer you on, and remind you how far you’ve come when you’re too busy to notice.
Will therapy make me cry?
Maybe – but only because you’re finally permitting yourself to feel. And don’t worry, I’ve got virtual tissues ready.
Do you drink coffee during sessions?

I might. Coffee is life; sometimes, it’s the fuel to tackle the big stuff. Bonus: it makes therapy feel a little more casual and more human.

Can I bring my dog to therapy?
If your dog is nearby during our virtual sessions, they can join. Four-legged therapists are always appreciated.
What’s your favorite part about being a therapist?
Watching clients realize their worth. That moment when the light bulb goes off, and they say, “I can do this” – there’s nothing like it.
Do you have any advice for someone nervous about starting therapy?
Yes: Show up. You don’t have to have all the answers, know what to say, or know exactly why you’re here. The fact that you’re willing to try is enough to start.
Is therapy worth it?
Absolutely. It’s an investment in your peace, energy, and ability to live a life that feels good – not just looks good on the outside.
What’s one thing your clients are always surprised by?
How much we laugh! Therapy isn’t all heavy. It’s also about joy, connection, and celebrating your growth. You’ll feel seen, heard, and understood in ways that might surprise you.
Do you still have questions?
Reach out! Therapy is all about you, and I’m here to help you feel confident about taking this next step. Let’s do this together.
